Jennifer Pena, born September 17, 1983 in San Antonio Texas, is a Latin pop singer and talented actress who shot to fame after performing at a Selena tribute in 1995 at Houston’s Astrodome. A year after her first public appearance, the 13-year-old Jennifer Pena released her first album called “Jennifer y Los Jetz Dulzura,” which was produced by Selena’s father and former manager Abraham Quintanilla III. The album included hits such as the Spanish-language cover of “Dance with Me” by The Drifters, earning Pena several Tehano Music Awards and reaching certified gold.

In 1997, Jennifer Pena released a second album entitled “Jennifer Y Los Jetz,” which included hits such as “Yo Te Vi” and “Tu Castigo.” It received the same level of success as her first album, winning Pena another gold certification. A third album “Mariposa” was released in 1998 with the single “Tengo Miedo,” which became a hit in both the Latin and Mexican audience, leading to Jennifer’s third certified gold album. By 2000, Jennifer Pena has been dubbed as “The Princess of Tejano Music,” particularly for her success while under Q’s management.

When Jennifer dropped the name “Los Jetz,” but was still performing with the band, she released “Abrazame y Besame,” her first album where Pena was billed as a solo act. Aside from her duet with DJ Kane in the song “Abrazame y Besame,” other hits on her fourth album included “No Te Voy a Perdonar,” “Si Tu Te Vas,” and “Contigo Otra Vez.” By 2001, Jennifer Pena earned a Grammy nomination for ‘Best Mexican American Performance’ and received several Tejano Music Awards. During this time, her songs have earned a huge fan base in both Mexico and USA.

Jennifer Pena switched management and signed under Univision Music Group, the label which promoted Jennifer’s music as Latin pop. In 2002, Pena released the album “Libre,” which was produced by Kike Santander and Rudy Perez. The single “Vamon al Mundial,” which was written by Perez, became the anthem for the 2002 FIFA World Cup, while “El Dolor de Tu Presencia” spent eight consecutive weeks at #1 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Tracks. Jennifer Pena earned a Grammy nomination for her “Libre” album in 2003. The following year, she released her second UMG album “Seduccion,” selling over 300,000 units.

Aside from her music, Jennifer Pena also appeared in several films, such as MTV’s coming-of-age movie “All You’ve Got” in 2006 and starred in an independent film “Amexicano” in 2007. Her most recent album “Dicen que el Tiempo,” which was released in February 2007, was nominated for a ‘Best Latin Pop Album’ Grammy. After getting married to Puerto Rican singer Obie Bermudez in June 3, 2007, the couple welcomed a son in November the same year. Jennifer Pena has put her music career on hold to take care of her son Jobien full time.
